Biography:

Bruce Langston, 71 of Carl Junction departed this life on June 14, 2010 at his home after a long illness.

Bruce was born on October 9, 1938 to the late Victor and Etha (Cox) Langston in Joplin, Missouri.

He was a graduate of Miami High School in 1957; he joined the United States Navy the following year and served our country honorably until his retirement in 1980.

On April 6, 1985 he was united in marriage to Ann Cowan in Oronogo, Missouri.

After retirement his worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a Cost Manager on the B-1 Bomber and later for the Jasper County Sheriff's office and part time for the Carl Junction Police Department.

In his free time Bruce enjoyed politics, detective shows and the horse races, but most of all he had amazing love for his children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Victor Langston, Jr., a grandson, and a great-granddaughter.

Bruce is survived by his wife of the home, six children, Greg Langston and wife Jenny of Tulsa, OK, Judith Welch and husband Mike of Purcell, MO, Mary Lynn Braswell of Broken Arrow, OK, Catherine Flathers and husband Bucky of Oronogo, MO Todd Langston of Joplin, MO and William Corlett and wife Tina of Webb City, MO, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and an aunt Louise York of Wagner, OK.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with Reverend John Pigg officiating; burial will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 7:30 at the mortuary.
