Mrs. Gilbert (Lillian) West, 80, 402 E. Vasa, died Tuesday, June 25, at Lake Region Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls. Revs. James Armstrong and Waldemar Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Battle Lake.
One of nine children of Nils and Mary (Holm) Nygaard, she was born Feb. 18, 1905, in Sverdrup Township of Otter Tail County. She grew up on a farm in Sverdrup Township and attended School District #12 of Underwood. She was baptized and confirmed in Rindal Church. After working for a time in Benson as a hotel clerk, she returned to Sverdrup Township to take care of her mother.
On Nov. 14, 1950, she and Frank Woodworth were married. He died June 25, 1963. She worked at Frees Cleaners in Fergus Falls and later for Minnie West as a housekeeper care-giver.
After her marriage to Gilbert West on Oct. 8, 1979, in Miles City, Mont., they resided in Fergus Falls. They owned and operated West Garden Center until retiring in 1984.
Mrs. West was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Fergus Falls Senior Citizens program and the RSVP program.
Survivors include her husband Gilbert; two sisters, Evelyn Stewart of Montana and Mrs. Ben (Helen) Nash of Princeton; one brother, Myron Nygaard of Fergus Falls and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. 9 p.m. Thursday at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resume at the church one hour prior to services Friday.
