Christian Geis was born in Villmar, Germany (about 30 miles NW of Frankfurt). He was the son of Johann Geis and Catherine Winkler Brahm, widow of Michael Brahm. Johann Geis arrived in Texas in September 1846 on the ship James Edwards. He settled in Pin Oak in Bastrop County. His wife Catherine joined him sometime in the early 1850's along with their two children Christian Geis and Margaret Geis. Catherine's daughter Dorothy Brahm of her first marriage came also. Her son, Henry Brahm joined the family at Pin Oak in 1856.

Johann Geis purchased land in Pin Oak, Texas in 1854 and remained there until his death in May of 1865. Catherine Geis died January 22, 1866. Their deaths are recorded in St. Mary's Pin Oak church records and they are probably buried in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery but there are no headstones.

Christian Geis married Barbara Schafer Faxel (sometimes spelled Foxel or Foxell) of Pin Oak on August 8, 1867. They lived in Bastrop for many years but around the turn of the century they moved to Archer County where they purchased land in 1908.

Christian's sister Margaret Geis married John Laux. They settled in Fayette County where they raised a large family.

Christian's half sister Dorothy Brahm married William Eisenbach in Pin Oak on February 18, 1852. She and William had one son John Eisenbach born in 1854. Dorothy died before 1857.

Christian's half brother, Henry Brahm remained in Pin Oak Texas. He bought the property that had been owned by Johann Geis from the other heirs and farmed until his death March 14, 1892. He married Annie Meurer and raised a large family, many of whom are buried at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Pin Oak.
