From the GENEALOGY of the WILLIAM SMITH FAMILY, by Robert E. Weber, December 20, 1976
Permelia died of "lung fever." At the time of her death, her husband, a son and a daughter were all ill from the same disease. Her husband, David, died four days after Permelia.
Her son and daughter apparently recovered from their 1872 illness. All five of the Smith children married and had children of their own.
MAJOR QUESTION:
Uploaded to this memorial is a detail of the 1870 Federal Census, Tippecanoe Co, IN, showing David and Permelia Smith. With them are two Colegrove children (Alonzo and Virginia B.). The latter were children of James and Louisa Colegrove. For non-family members, a logical hypothesis would be that Permelia was the older sister of the children and therefore another child of James and Louisa rather than the parents assigned to her on this memorial. Can anyone clarify the relationships?
