Honeoye, N. Y. - The friends of Mrs. Richard Reed were shocked to hear of her death last Friday morning. Mrs. Reed passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Barber, in Livonia, with whom she has lived since the death of her husband a few years ago. She leaves three children to mourn her loss, Mrs. Barber of Livonia, George Reed of this place, and Mrs. Wells Reed of Groton; and two sisters, Miss Mary Pitts and Mrs. Andrew Holden, both of Buffalo. The funeral was held in Livonia Sunday and the burial was in Lake View Cemetery at Honeoye.

The Late Mrs. Reed

Mrs Caroline Pitts Reed died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Edgar Barber, in Livonia, last Thursday at the age of 73. Mrs. Reed was born in the town of Richmond. Her father was Deacon George Pitts, prominent and highly esteemed among his fellow citizens of that town. He died in 1872. From early years Miss Caroline was kindly regarded and beloved by all who knew her. In 1857 she marred to Mr. P. Richard Reed. For many years their home was on the Deacon Pitts homestead. Mr. Reed died in 1898. Since that time Mrs. Reed had resided with her sister, Mrs. A.J. Holden of Buffalo, and her daughter, Mrs. Barber. Mrs. Reed as daughter, sister, wife, mother and gentle friend, lived a full useful, worthy, Christian life. She will be long and kindly remembered. The funeral was held at Mr. Barber's residence last Sunday. It was largely attended by friends from both Livonia and Richmond. The Rev. S. M. Day of Honeye, Mrs. Reed's pastor for many years, conducted the services. The interment was at Lakeview cemetery, Honeoye, where many of the Pitts kindred have been laid to rest.
