Obituary:
Cherry Mountain, Texas - The 15th of August, 1903
On one farm in Trokenburg on the 12th of August at 11 o'clock in the evening Mr. Johann Heinrich Friedrich Langehennig died from on lung sickness (pneumonia). He was sick only two weeks but only a few days very critical. The deceased was born on June 1, 1830 in Lunneburger Haide, Hanover, Germany and attained the age of 73 years, 2 months and 11 days.
In the year 1848 he came to Texas after experiencing a hard journey. He was a good hunter and a good shot and went hunting every chance he got here as well as in Germany--he had a good eye until he died.
He lived in several different places in the County. First in the city, then on the Palto Alto (creek), then on Marshall's Creek and again the the city. In 1875 he moved to his farm in Cherry Mountain.
On the 28th of August, 1857 he married Mina Zammet. They had nine children of which two died, four sons, 3 daughters and 31 grandchildren.
Mr. Langehennig was a soldier with the U. S. Army (north) during the Civil War and as long as I knew him, he lived a satisfied life on a farm. His (health) problems were rheumatism and asthma.
Yesterday at 9 A.M. was the funeral at his house. Many people attended. Pastor Lehmberg gave the eulogy. May he rest softly and may the earth be light on him. My condolence to the bereaved.
