Clyde Jones Spearman, was one of two daughters born to Anna Elizabeth Jones and Thomas Spearman of Yalobusha County, Mississippi. She was born September 28, 1890 and her sister 'Tommie' Thomas Hollingsworth Spearman Kesl was born February 23, 1892 the week her father Thomas Hollingsworth Spearman passed away on February 16, 1892. Clyde married her husband, Lewis Leavell Coats, in Water Valley, Mississippi on
September 10, 1913. Unfortunately, Clyde died very young at the age of 28 of appendicitis, leaving two young sons, Lewis Leavell Coats 4 years and Thomas Spearman Coats 2 years, under the care of her mother-in-law, 'Lovie' Jeffersonia Elizabeth Davidson Coats, to raise. Clyde and her family had been living in El Paso, Texas four months prior to her death on June 6, 1919. She was truly loved by her family as noted in the sentiment on her headstone -- "This life was beauty truth goodness and love."
Her sister Tommie married Vaclav Kesl, Jr. February 15, 1926, in Water Valley, Mississippi. Her mother Anna and sister Tommie relocated to West Helena, Arkansas, with her husband Vaclav Kesl, where they lived out their lives. There were no children of this marriage as Vaclav died of a heart attack in the first year of their marriage .
