Hansford Bill Bailey passed away in a Sonora hospital on February 15, 1891, at the age of 86.

Born in Kentucky on February 15, 1891, Mr. Bailey lived most of his life in California.

After retiring from his 60 year career as a mechanic for Lauritzen Construction Company in Pittsburg, California, Bill, the name he preferred, moved to Tuolumne County where he spent his last twelve years.

He and his wife, Josephine, owned the St. Charles Saloon in Columbia for 15 years.

For awhile, he was a member of the Elks Lodge.

Bill was survived by his wife, a sister, a niece and a nephew.

Bill was also survived by a son, Bill Bailey, and a daughter, Helen Bailey Lehmann. Both have since passed away, Helen on 21 Aug 2006, and Bill on 21 Feb 2008. They were from his marriage to Edna. They divorced in the 1920s, and the children stayed with Edna.
