** In Loving Memory of Peter **
Peter is loved, missed and remembered in the hearts of all who lived him forever.
Peter was born in Norway. Peter lived at the Øverjordet Family Farm
in Norway. His Mother Kari's Family owned the Øverjordet Farm . Family in
the USA heard all about the beautiful Vinstra and Gudbrandsdalen area where
he grew up. When Peter's Father and Mother moved to the Øverjordet
Farm, his Father's last name now also became Øverjordet. Peter's
Family members were members at the Sodorp Parish in Nord Fron.
Oppland Vinstra Norway. Peter's Sister Hannah Gulbrandsdatter Øverjordet
married Anton Mellemsdokken in Vinstra Norway. ( Hannah uses the "L"
in her Family Bible) Anton's Sister Petra Olsen Thurstison and her Husband
Peter Thurstison Sponsored Hannah and Anton.
They became Hannah and Anton Olson in the USA and settled
initially in the Aldrich Wadena MN area. Our Family
states that Anton and Hannah Olson sponsored Peter,Anne and their Family.
Our Family said that Peter's Family initially was expected to move to
Wadena Co. but didn't. It appears they didn't move far beyond Staples
MN initially. We don't remember the rest of how that they settled
elsewhere in Minnesota, but it could have been for work. They were with our
Family often. Peter and his Family were very close to Hannah and her family.
Peter married Anne in Norway in 1900. Peter, Anna, their young children
Mattie, Karen, Arthur,Julia and Anne's Mother Carrie (Kari) Botten
were all born in Norway. Carrie was a Widow. They immigrated from Norway
to USA in approx. 1909. It appears that Peter arrived to USA first in
1909 and then returned in 1910. It appears The rest of Peter's family
of origin remained living in Norway. Peter's Family's last name was changed
to Jordet after immigration. Peter and Anne Jordet first settled
in Mpls by 1910, then moved to Sturgeon Lake Pine Co. and then to
Kerrick Pine County. Peter received a US Military WWI Draft Notice
1918 when he lived in Sturgeon Lake MN. Unknown if he served in the Military.
Peters identical twin daughters Mattie and Karen traveled back
and forth to visit their relatives in Norway. Their families wrote
letters to Family in Norway. Peter's last name became Jordet after his
immigration to the USA. He resided with his Spouse and Children much of
his life in Pine County. Peter's niece Oline Marie Olson Carlson (Hannah and
Anton's daughter)spoke fondly of Peter and his family often.
In Norway,Hannah, her spouse Anton and their baby Alma
lived with or stayed with Peter, Gudbrand and other family members
at the Øverjordet Farm after they were married and before
their Family immigrated to the USA in 1901.
The Families from Minnesota USA and Norway kept in touch with each other,
especially Peter and his brother Ole G. Øverjordet. Their Parents
both passed away by 1923. Sister Hannah's Family in Wadena Co.
Minnesota USA spent much time with Peter and his Family in Minnesota.
Their Children, cousins, spent much time together. The Jordet and Olson
Family's spent time together much of their lives until Peter, Anne and
their Children passed away. The Cousins, Spouses, Siblings
got together at many family events as their Family grew in size and
their children had children. Cousins remember good
times as children at each Family's Farm and as adults at Weddings,
Celebrations, Family events. Peter passed away in Moose Lake MN.
It appears all of Peter's children have passed away.
In 2011 when some of our Family Members visited Norway, they met an
elderly distant Øverjordet Cousin in Vinstra. He told our Family Members
he had an uncle named Peter whose family immigrated to the USA. He
showed our Family the picture. It was our Uncle Peter. That was a random
visit and chance meeting when our relatives were trying to locate relatives
and historical family places during their trip to Norway. The distant relative
had the same picture of Peter our Family has. Peter's Daughters Mattie and
Karen wrote to Relatives in Norway, especially their Uncle Ole G. Øverjordets
Family in addition to visiting relatives in Norway before they passed away.
Mattie and Karen may have visited relatives in Norway several times.
Relatives in Norway still remember Peter. Peter's beloved Sister Hannah
Olson past away in Aug 1958, just a couple months before Peter.
Peter and Anne's Children remained closely bonded to their Cousins
the rest of their Lives. This Writer and Writer's Family spent countless
hours with Peter and Anne's Children. All of our Family looked forward to
spending time with Peter and Anne's Family at Family gatherings and
when their Daughters Mattie and Karen Jordet visited overnight
with their Cousin, our Grandma Oline Olson Carlson. Mattie and Karen
and our Grandmother Oline were always talking about Vinstra Norway.
( And enunciated Vinstra with a heavy emphasis on the V letter)

dod Oct. 3, 1958
passed away in Carlton Co. MN
Mothers maiden name: Uordet
Certificate: 002174

to note:
Øverjordet spelling in Norway.
Peter changed his surname spelling to Jordet after immigration to USA.

--------------------

Spelling vary for Peter's Family names. Their middle names, last names very on
different documents. Peter's Spouse's name Anne and her maiden name spelled
different ways on different reports. MN has Peter's Sister as Hannah Gulbransdatter.
Hannah had written this spelling in her Family Bible. It appeared in an 1875 Nord
Fron Census report when she was born as her last name. It appears Hannah continued to use that spelling in the USA. The Norway 1875 Census also had Gudbrand as Gulbrand.
Peter's name spelling of Gulbrandsen, Gudbrandsen, other spellings vary on
different reports. Our Family tree has Peter as Gudbrandsen, as do some Norway
Census reports. Other MN records spell differently. more research to confirm what
spelling Peter used in USA, edit to be done depending on which spelling is correct.
His given name in Norway was Peter Gudbrandsen Øverjordet.
Peter's Sister Hannah was Hannah Gulbransdatter Øverjordet Olsen
in Norway. She became Hannah Olson in USA.
Øverjordet spelling in Norway became Jordet in USA.
( Our Family in Norway state both are correct. Different dialects used,
some include the letter L. )

Peter's Family Tree and Family history, from what is known, is on Peter's Sister
Hannah's GG Grandson's Carlson Olsen Ancestry.com site. When Peter and his
daughters passed away, we lost contact with our relatives from Norway. Peter
and his daughters were fluent in English and Norwegian. Some of Family has been
reconnecting with our relatives from Norway before going there in 2011. Our Family
found one our Øverjordet distant Relative's Family from Vinstra during that visit
to Norway.
Not known where Peter's Brother Ole G. Øverjordet's Family is
in Norway. Our Family has cherished fond memories of Peter and his Family.
The Øverjordet Skinnehaugen had purchased the Millemsdokken Farm
formerly owned by Ole O Mellsemsdokken ( Anton Melllsemsdokken Olson's Father)
who sold it to them in the early 1900's. Our Cousin Paul Henrik Hage of Norway
found our Family a couple years later via Twins Karen & Mattie Jordets Memorials.

dob June 26, 1879
dod Oct. 3, 1958
passed away in Carlton Co. MN
Mothers maiden name: Uordet
