Harold grew up at Coddle Creek, and in Greenville, South Carolina, where his widowed mother moved their family in the 1910s. He was still living in Greenville in 1951. He married Winifred L. E. (17 April 1909- 28 Feb. 1993) sometime prior to 1938. I am afraid I do not know her maiden name, or when they married. They were listed as W. Harold and Winifred L. Field, 112 Oregon St., in the 1938 city directory of Greenville, SC. He was a chemist. In 1943, they were still living at 112 Oregon St. Harold had a store, "Field's Variety 5 and 10 Cent Store" at 4 Rutherford Rd., and Winifred had a beauty parlor, apparently conducted from their home. By 1945, they'd moved to 413 Wilton, where they were still living in 1951, and Harold still had the store on Rutherford Road. They later lived at Jonesboro, Georgia, and had two children, William Harold "Buddy" Field, Jr. (living) and Judy Ellen Field (1943-2018, Mrs. Eugene Archer).
