Edna Viola Brown McAuley, a resident of the Council Grove Healthcare Center since 2008, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. She was 90.

The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. John Britton and the Rev. Lowell Evans will conduct the service. Friends may call from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Council Grove.
Memorial contributions to the Berean Baptist Church or Council Grove Healthcare Center may be sent in care of the funeral home, 137 N. Union St., Council Grove, KS 66846.

Edna Viola Baysinger Brown McAuley was born December 2, 1919 at Hartford, Kansas. She entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on June 10, 2010 at Morris County Hospital.She was the daughter of Chester Garfield and Mollie Frances (Scoggin) Baysinger.Edna married Charles P. Brown on September 27, 1939 at Cottonwood Fall, KS. They were later divorced. They had one son, Charles F. Brown.She married Thaddeus T. McAuley on May 16, 1952 at Beatrice, NE. They had four children, Vicki, Debra, Alvin and Floyd.Edna grew up in the Eagle Creek neighborhood, southwest of Hartford. She attended Gumbo Grade School and Hartford High School. She lived in Emporia, Americus and Hartford, before moving to Council Grove in 1963. She became a resident at Council Grove Healthcare Center in December 2008, where she became known as "Grandma".She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul and Howard; sisters, Eva and Nellie; husband, Thaddeus; son-in-law, Leonard Dickey and great-grandson, Timmy Post.Edna is survived by her children, Charles Brown and wife Cheryl, of Seneca, MO, Vicki Elstun and husband Walt, of Council Grove, KS, Debra Dickey, of Oblong, IL, and Floyd McAuley and wife Linda, of Columbus, NE; 10 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 16 step-great grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of another great grandchild in December. She is also survived by 6 nephews, 2 nieces and countless friends.The graveside service was Monday, June 14, 2010 at Greenwood Cemetery, with Pastor John Britton and Reverend Lowell Evans officiating. She will lie in state from 8:00 to 9:30 A.M., before the service, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
