News has been received of the death of Charles P. Brown, a former Emporia resident and long-time taxi driver. He died Jan. 4th in Stockton, California. Mr. Brown was born in 1894 and worked for his father driving horse-drawn surries before the days of automobiles. He continued to drive until his retirement, when he went to California. He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Vera Higginbotham of Stockton: and Mrs. Idress Keppler of Oklahoma City. One son, Charles Francis of the home, a brother, Edgar, of Stockton, and a sister Laura Demler, 1731 Burlingame Road. He had three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
