Leslie Arnold "Les" Handshoe was born to Mr. Arnold and Flora (Harmon) Handshoe, on February 19, 1962, in Kendallville, Noble, Indiana. Leslie's father preceeded him in death, and his mother survives in Kendallville.
Les was united in marriage to Sue Bischoff, on July 2, 1994, in Hindman, Knott, Kentucky. She survives in Wolcottville, Indiana.
Les and Sue worked together, transporting local Amish. He had attended East Noble High School, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, with a love for Jeremy Mayfield. Les was also a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Go Colts!
Les died on Sunday, May 31, 2009, from injuries he received, following an automobile accident on State Road 5, in LaGrange County, Indiana. He was 47 years old.
His survivors include his son, Jeremy Bischoff, of Wolcottville; his grandson, Brody Bischoff, of Wolcottville; his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Lois Handshoe, of Kendallville; five sisters and two brothers-in-law; Judy Boyd, Betty Handshoe, Ellen and Jeff Hicks, all of Kendallville; Jeanette Mansfield, of Fort Wayne; and Hazel and Carroll Ensley of Gastonia, North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Violet Bischoff, of Wolcottville. Les also had several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Emory Gibson officiated Les' funeral service, on Wednesday, June, 3, 2009. It was held at 2 o'clock p.m. in the Young Family Funeral Home, located in Wolcottville, Indiana. He was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville, LaGrange, Indiana. His pallbearers were: Wayne Handshoe, Jeff Hicks, Larry Criswell, Clovis Hoover, Raymond Hamilton, and Curtis Pruitt.
Les was preceeded in death by James Boyd, his brother-in-law; his nephews, Richard Lightner and James Robert Boyd, III; and Mr. Gordon Bischoff, his father-in-law.
Les will always be remembered as "beloved husband, father, grandfather, son , brother, uncle, and friend."
