BURKHARDT, Eric Passed away peacefully, after an extended illness, on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Esther (nee Knechtel), loving father of Beverly (Tom) Aicken and Bruce (Charlotte) Burkhardt, cherished grandpa of Jacob (Kim), Erica (Steve), Russell (Samantha), Angela (Chad) and Robyn (Tommy), proud great-grandpa of Tawnya, Jacob, Samuel, Wraeanna, Wrennae, and Ty, dear brother of Walter Burkhardt and Helga Kesselring, and brother-in-law of Hilda McEwin, Ruth Glasford, Jacob Knechtel, Karen Knechtel and Gerry Kesselring. Predeceased by his grandparents Ezra and Sussanah Burkhardt and his parents Alvin and Paula Burkhardt. Eric was a dedicated employee of Joseph E. Seagram's for forty one years and a member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church. Friends and family are invited to visit, at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa Street South (at Westmount Rd.), Kitchener, on Monday, June 14, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the funeral home. Eric will be laid to rest at Mannheim Mennonite Cemetery.
