His paternal Grandparents were Govy Gordon Gary born in GA 1819, and Mary Ann Jackson Carter born in TN, both buried at Wood Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas. Govy Gary fought Indians in Bosque County, Texas, was in the Civil War for the CSA, and lived in San Augustine County with his family. He was shot and killed in a dispute of honor with ___ Miller over his daughter's good name.
Silas Gary's paternal Great-grandparents William Whitten Gary born in SC and Rutha (Gordon) Gary born in to Govin (Govy) Gordon in SC. William Whitten Gary and wife Rutha Gordon, their grown children with some grandchildren, migrated to Texas by 1849. william and Rutha are buried in small Gary Family Cemetery, Bosque County, Texas on what used to be their farm land. Isaac William Gary's wife Nancy Ann Wright's great grandfather James Wright born 1762 in Virginia, migrated to Georgia where his son Nancy's grandfather Robert Dawson Wright was born in 1796, his son Nancy's father James Paymer Wright born 1826 in Louisiana, died 1868, buried Sumpter Cemetery, Trinity County, Texas. Nancy's mother Louisiana Jacks was born in Louisiana, moved from Trinity county, Texas near her brothers in Sabine County after her beloved husband James Wright died. She is at rest in Wood Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas.
