Tom Eggleston, the father of actress Stella Stevens, died Friday at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. He was 80. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church on Highland, where he was a communicant, with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown. Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown has charge. Eggleston, a retired foreman at International Harvester, made headlines and was briefly jailed in 1959 during a child custody fight between Ms. Stevens and her former husband over their son, Andrew Stevens, who is an actor. Ms. Stevens, who lives in Beverly Hills, Calif., was discovered while modeling for Goldsmith's in Memphis. She has appeared in films such as How to Save a Marriage - And Ruin Your Life. She raised eyebrows in the Sixties with nude photo layouts in Playboy magazine. Eggleston, the husband of Estelle Eggleston, also leaves two sisters, Gertrude Eggleston of Oxford, Miss., and Mrs. Mamie Dunn of Yazoo City, Miss.
