James E. McCoy area Rancher dies in Hospital

James E McCoy longtime resident of Archuleta County passed away early Monday mooring in a Durango hospital. Jim as he was know to practically every resident of the community had been bedfast for the past eight years and had suffered a slight setback last weekend . That made it necessary for him to be taken to the hospital.

Despite the fact that a stroke had resulted in his being bedfast Mr. McCoy never lost his cheerful attitude and outlook towards life. He maintained a pleasant and sunny disposition until the time of his death.

James E. McCoy was born o nay 15 1882 inn Minden Nebraska and departed this world once 19 1959
His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McCoy of Minden. He spent most of his young life in the vicinity of Lakin Kansas coming to Colorado in 1902
He was united in marriage to Alice Woodard July 1 1903 at La Junta Colorado .They moved to Archuleta county in 1921 and Mr. McCoy had been engaged in Ranching from them until the time of his stoke . The family lived in the Allison –Arboles section for many years before moving to Pagosa Springs.

Burial services wire held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. From the Baptist Church with interment in the local cemetery. Mr. McCoy is addition to a legion of friend's leaves to mourn his passing his wife Alice. Three Children Charlie McCoy of Pagosa Springs Mrs. Myrtle Hopper of Pagosa Springs and Edward McCoy of Dove Creek.
He is also survived by two grandchildren five nieces and other relatives.
