DIXIE RUTH ROBERTS, a resident of Green Forest, was born June 17, 1912, in Muskogee, Okla., a daughter of Lon Newton and Bonnie Lee (Price) Hudson. She died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, in Berryville at the age of 93.

Mrs. Roberts retired from teaching school after teaching at Friendship, Rule, Marble, Gobbler and the Green Forest school system. She was a member of the United Baptist Church in Green Forest.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lee, and her husband, Neil Gumm of Green Forest; her grandson, Joe Pat Goforth, of Rule; one brother, L.N., and his wife, Ann Lee Hudson, of Drasco, Ark.; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Howard, Joshua Ray and Marilee Goforth, all of Green Forest; her daughter-in-law, Dede Roberts, of Green Forest; several other relatives and many friends.

In May of 1933, she was united in marriage with Howard Denny Roberts, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Phillip Roberts, a granddaughter, Sara Ann Goforth, her parents, one brother, John David Hudson and three sisters, Kate Walden, Hazel Taylor and Mary Peavy.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, at the Gobbler Church with Rev. Jerry Spurlock officiating. Interment followed in the Gobbler Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
