Homicide-suicide. Bert McMillen foreman of Whitmer Thomas Farm, NE of Knox City, shot his wife Mamie, age 27, children Frank about age 5 & Opal about 3 and himself on "The Old Jacob Thomas Farm" June 1, 1908. Cause unknown. Two other hired hands witnessed at the time. Mamie Hufman's brother arrived for the funeral and gravesite provided by the town of Knox City, Knox County MO, five miles west of LaBelle in Lewis County, MO.
