IRON RIVER-Josephine (Josie) A. Olan, 80, of 31 W. Boyington St., died Feb. 16 at her home.
She was born Nov. 27, 1916 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Joseph and Alexandra (Jurczak) Arciszewiski. She moved to Iron River with her parents and attended the Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1934. On Dec. 9, 1935 she married Charles (Casey) Olan in Chicago. The couple made their home in Iron River and she was employed at the Rainbow Laundry in Iron River for several years. In 1946 the couple moved to Tipler, Wis., where they owned and operated Casey's Rendezvous Tavern until 1970. In 1970 the couple moved to Caspian and then later to Iron River. She was employed at the St. Vincent DePaul Store in Iron River where she had worked for several years. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband Oct. 22, 1993; two brothers, John and Joe; and a granddaughter Carol. She was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church of Caspian, St. Anne's Society, the Daughters of Isabella, Iron River Senior Citizen Center where she was the last surviving member of the original card club there.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Judy) of Kennewick, Wash. and Dr. Michael of Selangor, Malaysia; a daughter Monica (Victor) Fiorazo of Caspian; a brother Bill (Jean) Goretski of Buffalo, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Vic Alan Fiorazo, Michael Fiorazo, Jean Ann Beck, Julie Ann O'Keefe, Cassandra Thomas, Sharon Olan, Tony Olan, Colin Olan and Katie Olan; and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Feb. 20 at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
Funeral services were held Feb. 21 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with the Rev. Otto Sartorelli, pastor, offering the Mass of Christian Burial. The Ladies of the Daughters of Isabella formed an honor guard at the funeral service.
Pallbearers were Vic Alan and Michael Fiorazo, Matthew, Craig, Drew and Steve Thomas.
Organist Julie McDonald accompanied the St. Cecelia Choir.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Iron River.
