Lillian Higgs, 91, of Denton died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Cottonwood Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Ponder to James Elmer Tritt and Lena Pearl Bishop Tritt. She graduated from Ponder High School and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. On July 5, 1930, she married Olen Higgs in Marietta, Okla. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1992.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. The Revs. E.L. McNeil will officiate. Burial will follow at Sanger Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Survivors include three sons, Carl Ray Higgs, Charles Huston Higgs and James Olen Higgs of Sanger; two daughters, Tommy Joyce Hughes and Betty Sue Chauncey of Sanger; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dale Higgs; one sister, Hazel Tritt Riney; two brothers, Glen Tritt and James Tritt; and two grandchildren.
