Funeral services for Jimmie Lavelle Birdwell Grubbs, 76, of Mount Enterprise will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Enterprise with the Rev. Darrel Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the King Cemetery under direction of Dickie Allen Funeral Home of Cushing. Mrs. Grubbs died Sunday, June 6, 2010, in Tyler. She was born October 16, 1933, in Palestine, Texas, to Jim L. and Bessie Johnson Birdwell. She lived most of her life in Mount Enterprise and had also lived in Palestine and Clute. She graduated from Mount Enterprise High School in 1951 and attended Massey Business College and Michael's Beauty College. She continued her education by taking classes at Kilgore Junior College and art classes at SFA's Adult Learning Center She was a homemaker and had operated the Style Shop beauty shop in Mount Enterprise for about 34 years. She was a friend, creative spirit, motivator and peacekeeper. Mrs. Grubbs was preceded in death by husband, G.T ."June" Grubbs; brothers, John Earl Still and Doug Still; and sisters, Jettie Allen and Louise Plaisance. Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Matlock of Mount Enterprise, Texas, Jo Ann Bentley of Lufkin, Texas and Nancy Grubbs Massingill of Mount Enterprise, Texas; son, Tommy Grubbs of Austin, Texas; sister, Mary Alice Evans of Mount Enterprise, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amber Lollar, Tiffani Lynn, Ashley Pitts, Chelsey Bentley, Dion Miller, Nicole Fontenot and Eric Matlock.; and five great-grandchildren, Alura, Harper, Camden and Logan and Kynlee. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Landmark Baptist Church in Mount Enterprise. Dickie Allen Funeral Home, Cushing.
