Alton L. Hicks Went to be with the Lord he loved on June 13, 2009, God having graced him with ninety wonderful years. He was born in Bonita, Texas on April 18, 1919. He demonstrated in death the strength he always showed in life. His love for God, his country, and his family were his strongest qualities. All who knew him, especially his family, will miss him. His loving wife of sixty four years, Audrus, his daughter Linda, son in law Kenneth, grandchildren Megan and Christopher all of Cupertino, and his daughter Carole, of Pacifica survive him. His sister, Myna, of Chillicothe, Texas and his brother Corky, of Amarillo, Texas and their families also survive him. He served his country admirably for twenty years in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Pacific during World War II and in Korea. He loved studying the bible and sharing his insights with others. He also loved sports and was a particularly dedicated and talented golfer. Viewing will take place at Spangler Mortuary, 399 South San Antonio Road, Los Altos, on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. Interment will occur at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos, on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at 12 p.m. A Memorial service will take place at Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, 728 West Fremont Avenue, Sunnyvale at 3p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, 3801 Miranda Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304.
