Russell Henry Nichols (Pop), 84, of Sullivan, passed away at 8:48 a.m. Sunday June 6, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Sullivan Co., Indiana February 7, 1926, the son of Russell Riley Nichols and Leatha Fern Clark Nichols. Russell graduated from Hutsonville High School, was a farmer, a lifelong member of the Kingsley Memorial United Methodist Church, Kingsley Church Choir, served on the Farm Bureau Coop Board, the Sullivan Co. Credit Union, Barbershop Quartet Tenor, and a past 4H Leader. He was preceded in death by his parents, also his wife, Mary Elizabeth Foutz Nichols, in 2004, whom he married February 7, 1952, two sisters, Elizabeth Newlin, and Marjorie Foster, and a son in-law, Thaddeus J. Corrigan. Survivors include four sons, Russell Riley Nichols (Marilyn), Rudolph Byron Nichols (Nancy), Randall Eugene Nichols (Shelley), and Ronald Dean Nichols (Mary Alice), one daughter, Robin Elizabeth Corrigan, one brother, Forrest Nichols, all of Sullivan, eleven grandchildren, Rusty, Heather, Jobeth, Jonathan, Tyler, Ashley, Alane, Nikki, and Andrea Nichols, T.J., and Melissa Corrigan, three great grandchildren, Addison, Krissa, and Lenley, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday June 9, 2010 at Banks and Brust Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Myers officiating. Interment in the Center Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
