Roy Francis Corn, 90, of 1369 Quail Drive, S.W., Supply, formerly of Kannapolis, North Carolina died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at his residence following a period of declining health.

He was born Feb. 5, 1919, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, a son of the late Richard Furman Corn and Luna Frances Baxter Corn. He was employed at Cannon Mills Plant One in the sample department retiring after 45 years of service. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Supply, North Carolina. He was a member of Brunswick Islands Baptist Church in Holden Beach and a former member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Kannapolis, where he had served as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He loved to garden and fish.

He was survived by his wife of 70 years, Naomi Taylor Corn of the home; one son, Phillip Corn and wife Diane of Kannapolis; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Holms.

Funeral services was held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. David Stratton and Rev. Jim Grigg. The family received friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. prior to services. At other times, they were at the residence of a granddaughter, Emily and Daniel Wallace, 2792 Brantley Road, Kannapolis, NC. Burial was in Carolina Memorial Park.
