DEPUE--Ira Irwin Searl, 63, lifetime Depue resident, died at 7:30am today in St. Margaret's Hospital where he had been taken 20 minutes earlier by ambulance.
Mr. Searl suffered a heart attack at 6:40am today at the entrance to the new Jersey Zinc Company plant in DePue where he was reporting for work. He was employed there as a gate watchman. The DePue Fire Department Rescucitator Squad was on the scene and he was removed by ambulance to the hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2pm Wednesday in Hollowayville Church-on-the-Hill with the Rev. Loren Van Oort officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation in the Barto Chapel, DePue, begins at > pm, Tuesday. At 11am Wednesday the body will be taken from the chapel to the church for the 2pm rites.
Mr. Searl was born Oct 11, 1900, the son of E. G. Searl and Katherine Heitz Searl. He married Emma Husser. She died in 1945. In 1948 he married Anne Cherry. He had been employed at the New Jersey Zinc Company 25 years.
Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Everett, (Doris) Pinter and Mrs. Arnold (Opal) Pinter, both of Zearing; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Rollie (Bonnie) Flaig of Princeton and Mrs. John (Jean) Wasielewski of Peru; a stepson, Leaon Carlson of Spring Valley; six grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, and two brothers who died in infancy.

Wednesday rites at Hollowayville
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Ira Irwin Searl, 63, lifetime DePue area resident, who died at about 7:30am Monday in St. Margaret's where he had been taken 20 minutes earlier by ambulance.
Near the entrance of the New Jersey Zinc Co. plant in DePue, where he was employed a as gate watchman, Mr. Searl suffered a heart attack at 6:40am. The DePue Fire Department Rescucitator Squad was called and he was administered first aid on the scene before being taken to the hospital.
The body was removed from the Barto Funeral Chapel to the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church-on-the-Hill at 11am Wednesday. The Rev. Loren Van Oort, pastor, officiated in the final rites in the church at 2pm and burial was made in the church cemetery.
