LOUIS KNUTSON DIES SUDDENLY

Louis was Town Chairman for a number of Years--Funeral to be held Saturday afternoon.
Louis Knutson, aged pioneer and prominent man of Navarino, died at the home of his son, Carl, Tuesday morning, Nov. 9th at the age of sevent-four years. Mr Knutson enjoyed apparently good health up to a week ago when stricken with pneumonia which was the immediate cause of his death.
The deceased was born Sept. 3, 1852 at Winchester, Wis., and came with his parents to Navarino at the age of fourteen. They settled at the place known as Hilda and were the first white people in that region--the only neighbors were the Indians, who always were kindly received in the Knutson home. In 1876 Mr. Knutson was married to Miss Martha Anderson. Their home was blessed with three children; Louise, now Mrs. Geo. Kittleson of Westby, Mont., Carl of Navarino and Hilda, now Mrs. Rev. Frank O. Anderson of Chicago. Mrs. Knutson preceded her husband in death four and a half years ago.
There are also three brothers, on sister and thirteen grandchildren living. The brothers are, Albert of Navarino, Leonard and Charles of Gillett and the sister, Mrs. John Westgor of Navarino.
Mr. Knutson was a leader among his towns people and well liked by all. For a number of years he held the position of Chairman of the Town Board. He was a member of the Bethesda Congregational Church of that place. The funeral will be held Saturday at one o'clock from the residence and at two o'clock from the Bethesda Church. Rev. L.G McLaud, pastor of the church will officiate.
