Edward F. Albrecht went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 16, 2006. He was born on January 2, 1922 in Banquette, Texas, to William and Bessie Zamazal Albrecht. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 in the 3705th Quartermaster truck company in Normandy, Northern France, Ardenness, Rhineland, and Central Europe. On August 23, 1949 Edward married his sweetheart Ruby Loraine Fabrygel and they were happily married for almost 57 years. They loved to dance together, spoke Czech to each other, and sat outside on the porch together every evening. Ed was a mechanic with Chrysler dealerships in Victoria for over 30 years, and retired from the City of Victoria after 10 years.

He was an extraordinary husband, father, and grandfather, and an unbeatable spades and domino player. His barbecue chicken was his specialty and his patience, kindness, and gentleness will be greatly missed. He taught his daughters to dance and drive, passed his love of mechanics to his grandsons, and danced the polka with his granddaughters in his living room. He was a Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral.

His parents, the love of his life Ruby, beloved oldest daughter Margie Albrecht Strelczyk, brothers Anton, Fred, and George Albrecht, and sisters Pauline Albrecht Zissa and Agnes Albrecht Pesek precede him in death. He is survived by daughters JoAnn Nelson, Judy Shockley and husband Michael Shockley, his son-in-law and friend; brothers Charlie, Frank and Steve Albrecht; sister Millie Albrecht Schneider; grandsons Randy and Eddie Nelson; and granddaughters Candice, Courtney, Christina, and Caitlin Shockley, and Ruby Ann Nelson.

Visitation will be held at 6pm and a rosary will be recited at 7pm, Sunday November 19, at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral will be 10A.M. Monday, November 20 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, Father David Berger officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection cemetery. Pallbearers are Randy Nelson, Eddie Nelson, Michael Shockley, Don Fabrygel, Joe Fabrygel, and Fred Pesek. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Albrecht and Ed's five granddaughters.
