His Company was fortunately assigned to guard the well protected railroad terminal in Macon Missouri September 1864 at the time of the annhilation of most of the 39th MO Regiment at Centralia MO September 27, 1864.

Died in 1908 driving a "Carryall" which ran off Mountain Road, with eighteen high school graduating students who were not seriously injured. Member of GAR.
