R.C. Birdwell Dies Suddenly At Home Early Wednesday
R.C. Birdwell, well known farmer of east of town and a member of the local war rationing board, died suddenly at his home early Wednesday morning.
Mr. Birdwell has consulted a physician before attending a meeting in town Tuesday evening. He returned home before midnight and retired. Later in the night his had arisen and gone into the living room where he was found on the divan when the family arose at seven o'clock.
Arrangements have been made to hold the funeral services at the Pitcher Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery under auspices of the American Legion.
Altho actively engaged in farming, Birdwell was an electrician by profession but had resigned from a position with the Southwestern Light & Power Company several years ago partially on account of his health.
Reuel Claude Birdwell was born June 20, 1891 at Bryson, Jack county, Texas. He served in the first world war as a member of the U.S. Engineer Corps and was attending officers training school when he was discharged from Camp Hancock, Ga. December 6, 1918.
He was married to Grace Ruth Fowler at Ardmore March 14, 1928.
Survivors besides his wife are two sons, Adrain and Claude Birdwell at home; a daughter, Mrs. Alton Nix, Los Angeles, and a little granddaughter, Claudia Nix. Also four brothers B.C. Birdwell, Amarillo; O.D. Birdwell, Fort Worth and R.E. and J.A. Birdwell of Bryson, Texas.
