FINCH - Waverly, NY, June 21, 1916 - Amasa Finch, a highly respected citizen and the oldest native born resident of Waverly, died at his home on Cayuta avenue, Monday evening at 7 o'clock. He was born on upper Cayuta avenue, May 6, 1836, the son of Philip and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Finch and grandson of Seely Finch who came to this locality before 1800 and was one of its first surveyors. Mr. Finch was a member of the Board of Education ten years, served as village president one year, was a member of the Excise Commission three years and was also a member of the Republican County Committee for several terms. In the death of Mr. Finch, Waverly loses one of its most honorable and upright citizens. He is survived by his widow, who was Elizabeth Sawyer, a native of Orange county; one daughter, Miss Mary Finch and one brother, Wilbur Finch.
