Vertus was the eighth child born to Charley and Lucy Marcum Marcum. She married Thomas Clenton Meadows on February 10, 1940 in Canada, Pike County Kentucky. Born to this union: Clint Meadows, Jr., Larry Kenton, Ronald and Connie Lynn. After retirement from a family business that her husband started "Harris Calorific Sales Company," South Point, Ohio, Vertus and Clent moved to Vero Beach, FL and resided there for about 20 years then moved to Sebastian, FL. Vertus died in the hospital in Melbourne, Florida of a heart attack.
