Mr. McCann was a World War I veteran. He served in E Company, 138th US Infantry, American Expeditionary Force in Europe and was one of the few survivors of 'The Lost Battalion.'
He was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church of Olathe, and the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and
Elks Lodge of Salina.
Survivors included daughters, Mrs. Rita Bland, Mrs. Lina Doyle, Dr. Mary McCann and Mrs. Martha Wisniewski; sons, John McCann Jr. and Dr. William E. McCann; sisters, Mrs. Agnes Doran, Mrs. Margaret O'Donnell, Mrs. Alfonse Ruggle; a brother, Eugene McCann; and 26 grandchildren.
