Nathanael Lindenmuth

Father of Mrs. W.A. Sensor Died Sunday Afternoon

On Sunday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock Nathanael Lindenmuth, one of Centre county's best known and highly respected citizens, died at his home at Unionville after an illness of four weeks with a complication of diseases.

Nathanael Lindenmuth who was aged 76 years and 6 months was a son of Michael (deceased) and Mrs. Nima Miller Lindenmuth, and was born in Roaring Creek valley, Schuylkill county. With his parents he came to Centre county when a young man and had resided there ever since, following the occupation of a blacksmith.

About 56 years ago he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Snyder, who, with the the following children survives to mourn a loving husband and father's death: Mrs. G.W. Isgran (transcriber's note - should be Ingram), Berwick; Mrs. W.B. Sensor, Tyrone; H.D. Lindenmuth, Unionville; F.L. Lindenmuth, Dix Run; Mrs. Nima Spicer, Bellefonte. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Annie Thrasher, Ringtown; Mrs. Samuel Deeple of Shepton, PA; John of Mt. Carmel; Lewis of Ellysburg, PA.

Nathanael Lindenmuth was a sincere Christian man and loved to be doing a kindness to his fellow men. He was a devoted member of the German Lutheran church.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at Unionville, conducted by Rev. Mr. Lepley and Rev. N.O. Piper. Interment was made in the Lower Dix Run cemetery, at Unionville.

NOTE: There are a number of errors in this obit, not only in the spelling of Nathaniel. His "brothers" cited were really stepbrothers, surnamed "Zimmerman." His Lindenmuth siblings were Franklin, Anna Catharine, and Michael. It is also unlikely that he came to Centre Co. with his parents, as his father died in 1842. His mother remarried David Zimmerman and appeared in later census records, the last being the 1880 census for Locust, Columbia Co., PA.
