Michael Mason was the son of Brooks Mason and Ann Eddy Mason of Swansea, MA.

He moved with his parents to Lanesboro, MA, in 1770. He served as a private in the Continental and Massachusetts lines during the Revolutionary War, and appeared on the 1790 census for Lanesboro.

In 1792 he moved to Saratoga County, NY. He was listed on the 1810 census for Galway, Saratoga County, NY.

In 1820 he was listed on the census for Brownhelm Twp., Lorain Co., OH, and in 1830 he was on the census for Vermilion Twp., Erie Co., OH.

He filed a pension application against his military service on 27 July 1832 in Huron Co., OH, listing his service and the places he had lived.

By the 1840 census he had moved to Fort Ann, Washington County, New York, to live with a daughter. His file contains a notation that he moved to Fort Ann on 1 Nov 1842, but he's also listed on the 1840 Census of Pensioners Revolutionary or Military Services for Fort Ann.
