Rick Joe Saylor, 17, 805 "F" Street, died at 5 p.m. Saturday at the E Street division hospital after an illness of five months.
He was born March 17, 1952 in Goshen to Richard and JoAnn (Hower) Saylor, who survive. He had moved to La Porte eight years ago from New Paris, Indiana.
He was a senior at La Porte High school and a member of the Chief of La Porte Police Cadets.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Kirby Lee, at home; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hower, New Paris, and Mrs. Marie Saylor, Elkhart.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EST Wednesday at the Rieth, Rohrer and Ehret Funeral Home in New Paris, the Rev. Lester Kemp II, officiating.
Burial will be at the New Paris cemetery.
Friends may call this evening at the Haverstock Funeral home, and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday until funeral services at the Rieth, Rohrer and Ehret Funeral Home.
