Mrs. Gates, 89, of Winnfield, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998 at Winn Parish Medical Center. Mrs. Gates was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Keen Age Choir and a Sunday School teacher. She was a Winn Parish Elementary School teacher for 30 years. She was a member of Palestine Chapter #55 Order of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Mrs. Gates is survived by one son, Carroll Gates of Marietta, GA; one sister and brother-in-law, June Sowers Green and Leonard Green; two grandchildren, Frederick B. Gates of Loganville, GA and Leslie G. Bofill of Coral Springs, FL.
Friends may call in the funeral home Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until shortly before time of services.
