William Demoret Askren was the son of Thomas A. Askren and Mary (Demoret) Askren. He married Mary Catharine Buchanan on November 1, 1849 in Marion County, Indiana. Following Mary Catharine's death in 1869, William married Lucy Ann (Fountain) Hook on November 2, 1871 in Shelby County, Indiana. In 1875, after losing his second wife, William married the widow, Sarah Ann Whitesides. His monument stands in the old section of the Anderson Cemetery on the north side of 10th Street.
