SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. FERGUSON, 86; CAME WEST IN 1850

Mrs. Jane Sutherlin Ferguson, 86, for whom funeral services were held last Thursday at the Wilson & Chambers Parlors, No. 248 Killingsworth avenue, was an Oregon pioneer, having come to this state with her parents by ox team in 1850. The family consisted of four daughters, four sons, and one granddaughter. An older son, Fendal, preceded them to Oregon in 1847. It was after the family that the town of Sutherlin was named.

Mrs. Ferguson was twice married, having three sons and three daughters by her first husband. Those surviving are Mrs. Mary J. Washburn, Seattle; Mrs. Sarah S. Wall, Mrs. Winnie Chambers and Vincent Tapp, Portland, and John H. Tapp, Hood River. She also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Malinda Crouch, of Oakland, Or., who at the age of 96, is reported to be the oldest pioneer of Douglas county.

Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the Douglas County Pioneers' association, and the Oregon Pioneers' association. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chambers, No. 1437 East Sixth street north.
