Born April 14, 1929 in Kentucky, he attended McGoffin County public schools in Kentucky and resided in Rensselaer since 1942.
He married Bethel J. Campbell on June 17, 1950, in Rensselaer, and she preceded him in death on
October 16, 2004.
Mr. Huff was a steel worker at U.S. Steel and Gary Works and was also a farmer, retiring in 1991 after 41 years.
He was a member of the Gifford Church of God and United Steel Workers of America Local 1014.
Surviving are a daughter Kathy Duley (husband Ward) of Rensselaer; three sons, William "Bill" Huff (wife Bonnie) of Portage, Ron Huff (wife Vicki) of Francesville and Mike Huff (wife Becky) of Rensselaer; a brother Charles Huff of Washington, Indiana; and two sisters Roxie Salyer of Rensselaer and Thelma Martin (husband Mannie) of Wheatfield.
Friends may call 3-8p.m. Wednesday at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer with services there 10a.m. Thursday, Pastor Gary Menard officiating. Internment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Surviving are 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents James Sr. and Junie McCarty Huff, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Memorial may be made to the Gifford Church of God.
