SALT LAKE CITY - Albert Edward Schoenfeld, 104, the oldest man in Utah, died at the home of a daughter.
Mr. Schoenfeld until a year ago had lived in Salt Lake City - doing his own cooking, cleaning and gardening. He suffered an injury at the age of 103 and then moved in with his daughter, Mrs. LaDene Gould of Salt Lake City.
He was born Dec. 8, 1869 in Salt Lake, a son of Edward and Mary Alice Springvall Schoenfeld. On Dec. 18, 1895 he married Florence E. Pardoe in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and she died, Sept. 12, 1947.
For 30 years Mr. Schoenfeld had served as secretary of the high priests quorum in the Park State First Ward, and he had served a mission to Germany from 1892 to 1894. He was a retired employee of Salt Lake City.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter, James T. Schoenfeld, Victor P. Schoenfeld and Mrs. Gould, all of Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Theodore Schoenfeld, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be Monday at noon in the Park Stake First Ward Chapel, 760 S. 800 E. Friends may call at Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 S., Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
