MR PETERSON KILLED AT STREET CROSSING
Truck hits victim, who dies from injuries two hours after crash.
NAVARINO--Our community was shocked Friday morning to hear of the sudden death of Severt Peterson who was struck by a truck Thursday evening while crossing a street in Oshkosh. He was rushed to a hospital, but died two hours later as a result of injuries received from the blow. Mr. Peterson had been employed by Coe Converse and Edward's Nursery Co. of Fort Atkinson and was doing very well in the capacity of sales agent.
Severt Peterson was born in Hedemarken, Norway, May 9, 1872. He came with his parents to America and settled immediately in Navarino where he grew to manhood and was educated in public schools and was confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church. The Church records show this as July 17, 1887--along with Eline Vang and Johannes Nilson. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Anderson (daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Halvor Anderson) Oct. 18, 1900. They made their home in different parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota, having lived in Milwaukee the past few years until about two months ago when they went to Oshkosh.
Mourning the death of the deceased are his wife, three sons and three daughters, Palmer, Orville and Sylvia are married and reside in Milwaukee, Melvin, Mamie and Lillian are at home. Two brothers and three sisters, Anton, Julius, Mrs. Elsie Pues, Mrs. Paulla Knutson and Mrs. Olda Christianson all of Navarino, besides many relatives and hosts of friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday Oct. 26, from the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Navarino, with interment in adjoining cemetery. Rev. E.N Halvorson officiated. The Church was filled to capacity with friends and relatives who came to pay final tribute to one dearly loved, taken from them in the prime of life.
