He was born Dec. 12, 1889, in Burlington, the son of John and Caroline Sherman Hartman. On Nov. 25, 1913, he married the former Annie M. Long.
He was a retired stationary fireman, formerly employed at Murray Iron Works. He was a member of St. John's Catholic church and the Eagles lodge.
Surviving are the widow: three sons, Leo, Warren and Paul Hartman, Burlington; a daughter, Janet Hartman, Burlington; a brother, William Hartman, Chicago and four grandchildren.
Services will be held 9 a.m. Monday, at the St. Johns Catholic church. Brief family prayers will be held at 8:45 a.m. at Giles Funeral home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
