In family conversation we spoke of Aunt Orissa. She was found as Orissa A. Towne at age 3 with her father Ichabod and mother Amanda (Doubleday) Towne in the 1850 United States census. In 1865 her name was given as Amanda O. Towne, then age 18. Her family was from that part of Massachusetts that became a part of the Quabbin Reservoir.
