Visitation was Friday at the Homer-Lieske-Homer Mortuary in Kearney. Funeral services were Saturday, Dec 30, 2006 at the Homer-Lieske-Homer Mortuary of Kearney, with C.J. Willis officiating. Burial was in the Kearney Cemetery.
Survivers included three sons, Charles (Charlotte) Brown of Stratton, Colo., Gifford (Glenda) Brown of South Padre Island, Texas, and Leon Brown of Kearney; two brothers, Gilbert Horn of Elwood, and Elwood Horn of Lexington, seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Leona was born March 18, 1921, in a sod house in Custer County to Leo and Louise (Davis) Horn. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1938. Leona then graduated from nursing school in Denver in 1954.
She lived in Cozad and worked in Lexington at the hospital. She moved to Kearney in 1958, and worked as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital, retiring from nursing in 1984.
