Age 83, son of Alfred R & Lucille (Trotter) Wilson Sr; husband of Mary L (Rutherford) Wilson - veteran US Navy during WW2


Alfred R. Wilson Jr., 83, of Newton died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials in Alfred's name may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wilson of Newton; two sons, Rod Wilson of New Boston, Texas, and Todd Wilson of Dubuque, Iowa; one daughter, Cindy (and Ed) White of Clive, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

Interment: There will be a coffee time following the funeral service. After the coffee time there will be a family burial on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Newton Union Cemetery.
Those left to honor Alfred's memory are his wife, Mary of Newton; 2 sons, Rod Wilson of New Boston, TX and Todd Wilson of Dubuque, IA; his daughter, Cindy (Ed) White of Clive, IA; 7 grandchildren, Crystal, Joseph, Aaron, Heather, Lindsay, Joshua, and Sarah; his 3 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Madelaine, and Keiarra; and 2 sisters, Beverly (Robert) Donels of Waterloo, IA and Sheri (Owen) Swanson of Wilmington, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lucille (Trotter) Wilson, Sr.; step-mother, Jennifer (Trotter) Wilson; and 2 sisters, Judith, in infancy, and Bonnie Caulkins.
Alfred graduated from Newton High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He worked in the Maintenance Department for the Newton Community School District beginning in 1953 and retiring in 1988.
