Cheryl L. Dykstra, 60, of Mendota, died May 26 in Kindred Hospital, Sycamore.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Spencer Lawrence officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, provided the arrangements.

She was born Sept. 19, 1949, in Kewanee, to Robert E. and Guida (Abbott) Grubb. She married Dale Dykstra on June 5, 1971, at Buda Methodist Church.

She was a graduate of Western High School and received her registered nursing degree from Decatur and Macon County Hospital School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Millikin University and a Master of Science from Penn State University.

She was an instructor at Penn State for 14 years. Mrs. Dykstra was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mendota, where she served as an elder and deacon. She taught Sunday school and was a member and director of the church choir. She also was a member of the Tres Dias organization of Rockford, Mendota Elks Lodge 1212 and Decatur Memorial Alumni Association.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Dale Dykstra of Mendota; one daughter, Rachel (Jared) Crew of Oglesby; one son, David Dykstra of Cocoa, Fla.; five grandchildren, Matthew Brilhante, Dominic and Hannah Dykstra and Sasha and Trustin Crew; one sister, Janet (Jack) Becker of Princeton; four brothers, Donald (Arlene "Arkie") Grubb of Buda, Dr. Richard (Audrey) Grubb of Pittsburgh, Pa., Stanley (Ann) Grubb of Danville and Dr. Stephen (Lisa) Grubb of Christiansburg, Va.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Mendota or Home Health-Hospice at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center.
