Arthur Lewis "Squirrel" Crandall, 81, of Syracuse, died Tuesday at Upstate Medical Center. He retired in 1985 after working 38 years as a freight conductor with Conrail. Arthur was a WWII and Korean War Army Air Corp. veteran and was a life member of V.F.W. Post 3146. His son Lewis R. predeceased him in 1979. Survivors: his wife of 56 years, the former Anna May Zimmerman; his daughter Sandra Leonard of Liverpool; two sons, Robert W. and Mark R., both of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday with military honors at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours: Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
