Harvey Russ, drowned in the Erie Canal when he was 14 years. It happened less than two months after his mother died of tuberculosis. The family lived in Canajoharie, New York.
Harvey's mother Rose is buried in Ames Cemetery in the Russ family plot. Family members say Harvey is buried there also but does not have a stone marker. His father Chauncey is buried there also without a stone to mark his grave. According to family he is buried next to his mother.
