Olaf Bjornstad, 96, formerly of Underwood, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Broen Home Chapel, with the Revs. Harland Helland and Rolf Wangberg officiating. Burial will be in Tingvold Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Bjornstad was born Nov. 20, 1892, in Sverdrup Township, one of seven children of Lars and Gertrude (Aune) Bjornstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Sverdrup Lutheran Church and attended school at Barnhard School District No. 192. He also attended the Minnesota Art Institute.
He served in the U.S. Army in 1918, and he worked for several years as a miner on the Cuyuna Range. He later worked as a carpenter and woodsman. In recent years, he lived on the family farm near Underwood with his brother Julius and his wife.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Broen Home Chapel. Olson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
